30 Years of Concorde at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin
Contemporary music group Concorde marks three decades of concerts at the Hugh Lane Gallery. A concert at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin in April 1978 marked the first concert in the venue by the then two-year-old new music ensemble Concorde. Thirty years later, the Jane O’Leary-led group is to mark the anniversary with a concert featuring four works commissioned by the group as well as the composer’s own Soundshapes. The featured works include Raymond Deane’s Seachanges for flutes, cello, piano and percussion, from 1986; Rob Canning’s work for variable instrumental forces and live electronics from 2003, Mutations; a movement from Seóirse Bodley’s 1986 Trio for flute, clarinet and violin; and, from 2008, Christopher Norby’s Six Bagatelles, ‘a witty look at a day in the life of a composer’. The Concert takes place at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Parnell Square, Dublin, at 7pm on Thursday, 12 June. For more details, please see our calendar or visit www.hughlane.ie. Posted: 29 May 2008
