April Composers’ Choice Concert
The National Concert Hall’s Composers' Choice series concludes on 30 April with a concert of music by Ian Wilson. A version of the composer's first violin concerto, the Messenger Concerto has been arranged for solo violin and chamber orchestra and will be performed by Catherine Leonard and Camerata Pacifica on Wednesday 30 April at 8pm. The 30-minute work by Ian Wilson depicts the moment when the composer and his family were forced to flee an anticipated NATO bombing raid on Belgrade in 1999, where they were living at the time, to return to Ireland. It will be heard alongside works by Brahms and John Harbison. The Dublin performance forms part of a tour by Camerata Pacifica that has seen the California-based ensemble playing dates in North America and will include performances in London and, on Saturday 3 May, in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast.
