Kerry Residency for Siobhán Cleary
Siobhán Cleary continues as Composer-in-Residence with Kerry County Council. Due to the success of her initial 10-week residency with Kerry County Council, which began in November 2007, Kerry County Council have agreed to extend her residency to November 2008 so that she can work with more young people interested in composition. ‘We’re thrilled to have Siobhán with us again,’ says Kate Kennelly, Arts Officer, Kerry County Council. In order to promote music composition Cleary has designed an intensive workshop aimed at primary school teachers. This five-hour workshop looks at approaches to composition in the classroom and is being held on 17 and 24 May in the Kerry School of Music, High Street, Tralee. 'This workshop suits teachers with all levels of musical skills, including those with little or no experience’, says Cleary. She will also work with music students in the county on composition as well as a number of schools from September. For more information on the residency, please contact Kerry County Council Arts Office, email: kkennell@kerrycoco.ie. Posted: 23 May 2008
