Bealtaine 2008

Kevin O'Connell
Kevin O'Connell

The Contemporary Music Centre is once again taking part in the Bealtaine Festival.

Bealtaine is a national arts festival celebrating and promoting creativity in older age, and runs throughout the month of May. It began in 1996 and has grown since then to include over 1,500 events around the country. It covers all art forms including, among others, music, theatre, dance and literature.

The theme of this year’s Festival is Now Strike your Note, and with this in mind CMC is hosting an interactive workshop devoted to making music. Composer Kevin O’Connell is leading the group, and participants are invited to bring along any instruments they may have at home. For those attending who do not bring instruments, some instruments will be provided on the day. No musical knowledge or experience is required.

The workshop takes place in The Contemporary Music Centre, 19 Fishamble Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 8, on Friday, 16 May from 11am to 1pm. Admission is free but as places are limited booking is essential.

For further information and for bookings please contact Aoife FitzPatrick, Promotion Officer, afitzpatrick@cmc.ie or phone 01-673 1922.
