Art of Sound in Carlow
CMC’s exhibition The Art of Sound features in Carlow’s Éigse Festival in June. The Art of Sound is a photographic and multi-media exhibition which gives an insight into the creative processes behind the work of some Irish composers. The exhibition features striking photographic portraits of a number of Irish composers and their music by Irish photographer Eugene Langan. The images are presented alongside an informative audio commentary by Eamonn Lawlor of RTÉ lyric fm. Following successful outings this year in Waterford and Tallaght, Dublin, the exhibition will be on display in Carlow Parish Centre, Carlow town, from 9 to 14 June. As well as the exhibition, Carlow-based composer Gráinne Mulvey will give three workshops for primary school students using local landmarks as visual aids to create a piece of music. The Éigse Festival takes place from 7 to 15 June 2008 in Carlow Town, and has a diverse programme of events which presents artists, musicians and performers from Ireland, the UK and around the world. The Art of Sound exhibition takes place at Carlow Parish Centre, College Street, Carlow. Opening hours are from Monday to Saturday, 11.00am to 5.00pm. To book places on Gráinne Mulvey’s workshop, please contact 0818 205 205 or visit the Éigse Festival web site at www.eigsecarlow.ie.
