AMP – Cross-Arts Interactive Evenings

AMP poster

CMC presents a series of informal discussion evenings exploring collaboration between musicians and other artists.

The series, AMP, takes place on three Tuesday evenings across May. Composers, performers and artists of all disciplines have the chance to meet and interact with each other, explore the possibilities for collaboration and learn about each other’s work.

The evenings will be held in Pravda, Lower Liffey Street, Dublin 1, beginning on Tuesday, 13 May 2008 at 7.30pm. Guest speakers on the first night include audio-visual collaborators David Stalling and Anthony Kelly, and composer George Higgs, who will discuss his latest project The Coin Operated Vibrating Video Juke Bed.

The series continues on 20 May with an evening about music and multimedia, featuring Linda Buckley, who will discuss her latest soundtrack for film, Textures, and new media artist Tim Redfern, who will speak about some of his latest projects.

The third evening in the series on 27 May looks at music and the stage. Jürgen Simpson will talk about his latest collaboration with dancer Mary Wycherly, and Jo Mangan, artistic director of Performance Corporation theatre company, will talk about their latest initiative, the SPACE Programme, which is aimed at fostering the careers and creativity of artists from all artistic disciplines, from choreographers, writers and actors, to software designers, musicians and sculptors. See www.theperformancecorporation.com/

The final evening in the series takes place in the Contemporary Music Centre, on Thursday 5 June at 7.30pm, with live electronics from Neil O'Connor. This evening is a showcase for anyone who wishes to present their work. Submissions for this can be made to Niamh Heery, Audiovisual Assistant, email nheery@cmc.ie.
