Alight Exhibition Opens in Tallaght
A new exhibition involving composer Jennifer Walshe and Tallaght-based artist collective Grúpat opens on 28 November. The Alight exhibition at RED, South Dublin's new arts centre, features a sculptural sound installation, The Legend of the Fornar Resistance and other works by Grúpat members. As an introduction to the exhibition, Jennifer Walshe is giving a public talk about her collaboration with Grúpat on 25 November at 1.15pm, at RED, South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght. The talk, entitled Innovation and Invention: The Grúpat Sound Collective, includes film clips of performances and a tour of the exhibition. The Grúpat collective works primarily in sound, with work ranging from strictly-notated compositions for classic ensembles to graphic scores, sonic sculptures, sound installations and interventions in both the public and private spheres. In the County Library, adjacent to RED, Avant Gardaí, an exhibition of Grúpat's graphic musical scores, is on display until 1 December. Alight takes place as part of In Context 3, South Dublin County Council's Per Cent for Art Programme 2006 to 2009. The exhibition runs from 25 November to 17 January 2009.
