The RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet is celebrating its 21st Anniversary with a national tour of premiere performances.

Three new RTÉ-commissioned works, each 10 minutes in length, by Seóirse Bodley, Deirdre Gribbin and Ronan Guilfoyle, will feature in a programme that also includes Schubert’s Cello Quintet in C (in which the quartet will be partnered by cellist Ralph Kirschbaum).

A five-date tour begins on 28 November at the National University of Ireland’s Aula Maxima in Galway before moving the following evening to Aula Maxima at University College, Cork, The Parade Tower, Kilkenny Castle on 30 November and the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray on 1 December before concluding in the Shaw Room at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin on 2 December.

An introductory talk by all three composers will preface each of the concerts under the aegis of CMC’s Meet the Composer scheme. All the concerts start at 8pm except for the final performance, which begins at 3.15pm.
