Portuguese Premieres for Four Irish Composers
This year’s Música Viva Festival in Lisbon and Porto is to include first performances in Portugal of four works by Irish composers in a concert given by the Fidelio Trio. Three of the works – Donnacha Dennehy’s bulb, Deirdre Gribbin’s How to Make the Water Sound and For Marcel Dzama by Ed Bennett – were written for the trio whose members include violinist Darragh Morgan, cellist Robin Michael and Mary Dullea on piano. The fourth piece is the Piano Trio by Kevin Volans. The concert, on 19 September at the Casa da Música, Porto, will also include works by Salvatore Sciarrino and Portuguese composer Fernando Corrêa de Oliveira. For details, see our Calendar or visit www.misomusic.com The concert takes place under the Association of Irish Composers' International Concert Exchange Programme, under the ISCM umbrella and with generous funding from Culture Ireland.
