Pluck Blow II

Greg Caffrey
Greg Caffrey

A new work by Greg Caffrey for flute and guitar is to receive its premiere in Dublin on 25 August.

Commissioned by RTÉ Lyric FM, Pluck, Blow II the return is described by the Greg Caffrey as ‘a sequel’ to his earlier work, Pluck, Blow.

‘It has the same quirky rhythmic language whilst also resorting to bouts of lyricism, but this new piece ups the anti in terms of the virtuosity required, particularly of the flute, with its final section blasting barrages of semiquavers at lightning speed and with explosive energy.’

The work was written for flautist Aisling Agnew and guitarist Matthew McAllister, who will give the first performance at St Audoen’s Church, High Street, Dublin and record the work for broadcast.
