New Collaborative Project for Jane O'Leary

Jane O'Leary
Jane O'Leary

Jane O'Leary will write a new work for the Chicago-based organisation Accessible Contemporary Music (AGM).

The project, Composer Alive, will involve a piece being written by Jane O'Leary in four instalments during the summer. The composer will email each instalment of the work to ACM, who will record each part at the Chicago Cultural Center and post it to their site, www.acmusic.org.

Each posting of the work will contain revisions and new ideas, and the overall development of the piece will become clearer with each new posting of the work to the site. In this way audiences can listen to a piece of music from its initial sketch, through its revisions to the final work.

AGM will post comments from the composer about the creative process as well as comments from the performers about the practical aspects of putting the piece together. The project aims to help demystify the process of composing the piece by providing a regular insights into the composer's approach to writing the work.

The Composer Alive Project takes place throughout the summer and will culminate in a performance on 21 October 2007 at the Chicago Cultural Center. Further details are available from Accessible Contemporary Music's web site, www.acmusic.org.
