Jane O’Leary Launches New CD

Jane O'Leary
Jane O'Leary

A new recording of chamber music by Jane O’Leary is to be launched in Galway and Dublin.

In the Stillness of Time features six works written by Jane O’Leary over the past decade, all of which were inspired by the writings of Samuel Beckett, Walt Whitman and Moya Cannon. They are performed by the composer, clarinettist Paul Roe, violist Garth Knox, the RTÉ Vanbrugh and ConTempo Quartets, and O’Leary’s own new music ensemble Concorde.

The Galway launch will feature performances by ConTempo Quartet and readings by Moya Cannon, whose poem Viola D’Amore inspired O’Leary to compose Why the Hill Sings. It will take place at the Norman Villa Gallery, Lower Salthill on 5 December.

The venue for the Dublin launch the following evening is the United Arts Club, Upper Fitzwilliam Street, where Paul Roe will perform a piacere. Both events begin at 6pm.

In the Stillness of Time was made with the assistance of a Music Network/Arts Council Recording Scheme Award. It is released on the Capstone label.

For more details of the launches, please see our calendar; for further details about the CD, visit www.capstonerecords.org.
