Ailís Ní Ríain

Composer Ailís Ní Ríain has won a prize in a recent international opera competition.

Ailís Ní Ríain has received second prize in the Nancy Van de Vate International Composition Competition for her work EXIT.

The 2006 Nancy Van de Vate International Composition Prize for Opera is awarded by the American music publishers, Vienna Masterworks (BMI) and Vienna Master Composers (ASCAP).

The prize recognizes the difficulty women composers worldwide have in finding performances for their operas and is intended to encourage public production of their works. The award is for any kind of opera or music theater piece of more than fifteen minutes’ duration.

For information on current composition competitions, please visit the Opportunities section.
