Music for Galway Concerts

Music for Galway presents two concerts at the Norman Villa Gallery, Salthill, Galway in September.

The Gallery is hosting an exhibition of new work by international artists responding to the theme of music.  The exhibition is curated by Brian Bourke and takes its name from a quotation by artist Joan Miro: "like notes that shape music.

On Sunday, 16 September, the ensemble Concorde will give premieres of four works commissioned for the occasion from Grainne Mulvey, Deirdre McKay, Benjamin Dwyer and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly at 3 p.m.  On Tuesday, 18 September at 6.30 p.m. Bill Dowdall and John Feeley will perform solos and duos for flute and guitar by Ravi Shankar, Jane O'Leary, Jerome de Bromhead, Dave Fennessy and Toru Takemitsu. Both events are free of charge.
