New Music Commissions for Gráinne Mulvey

Gráinne Mulvey is currently working on a number of commissions for performance in 2007.

She has been commissioned to write piece for Alda Caiello (soprano) and Dermot Dunne (accordion) for the Sligo New Music Festival in April with funding provided by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. She has also been commissioned to create an installation for the Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast and the University of Limerick for October, 2007. This installation will be funded by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Works in progress also include a piece for Joe O' Farrell (flute) and electronics, commissioned by Carlow County Council to celebrate the centenary of the County Carlow Association of New York and a piece for the Concorde New Music Ensemble, for performance in October, dates to be confirmed.

Gráinne Mulvey was also a featured composer in the Horizons Series at the National Concert Hall this January, with performances of her works Horizons Fanfare, Akanos and Scorched Earth along with music by Xenakis. These works were performed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Robert Houlihan.
