Microtonal Fayre
A number of Irish composers feature in a day of music and research as part of the University of York Spring Festival 2007. 'Microtonal Fayre' features performances of rarely heard pieces by Cage, Tenney and Ives, as well as premieres of new music by York postgraduate composers and special guest performances from Joe Browning on the shakuhachi and Ben Schlepper-Connolly on violin. Irish composers represented at this event include Scott McLaughlin, Brian Bridges, Peter Moran and Garrett Sholdice. All events in the Microtonal Fayre are free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be available in the foyer throughout the day. The Spring Festival continues later that evening with Dutch ensemble de ereprijs in a programme of Joe Cutler, Anna Meredith, Hannah Kulenty, Conlon Nancarrow and more. The full programme of events is available on the University of York's web site, or see Calendar for details. Posted: 30 April 2007
