Maconchy Centenary Celebrated by National Chamber Choir

Elizabeth Maconchy, Marian Ingoldsby, Gráinne Mulvey

The National Chamber Choir marks the centenary of Elizabeth Maconchy’s birth as part of The Eternal Feminine, its summer series of concerts celebrating the contribution of women to 20th Century music.

Three Maconchy works – Siren’s Song, Nocturnal and Creatures – will feature in an all-Irish programme in the fourth and final concert of the series alongside Marian Ingoldsby’s Mar a Fuarthas Spreagadh, Gráinne Mulvey’s Stabat Mater and two pieces, ...For we are the stars and The Silver Strand, by Maconchy’s daughter, Nicola LeFanu.

Conducted by Brian McKay, the concert will be given in The Harty Room, Queen’s University Belfast on 8 August, and at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin on 9 August.
