International Computer Music Association Calls For Papers The Queen’s University, Belfast-based Sonorities Festival is to host the International Computer Music Conference in 2008. An invitation to submit papers on the theme of ‘Roots/Routes’ has been issued by the Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music. The annual celebration of electronic and electro-acoustic music that takes place in the Sonic Arts Research Centre, Belfast is to host ICMC 2008 between 24-29 August. The 2008 conference will seek to explore notions of placement and displacement in the context of music practice. Themes to be explored include the interaction between technologies that through international collaboration and music cultures rooted in a specific place as well actual and potential synergies between computer music and traditional music. The conference will also showcase works for tape and video but will also include submissions for a chamber ensemble comprised of players from the Ulster Orchestra.
