New Installation by George Higgs at the Project
The Electro Acoustic Exchange, a new site-specific installation created by George Higgs for the Project Arts Centre, Dublin is to be revealed on 24 July. The result of an intensive three-month ‘study of musical and economic value’, the work is scored for cello, sine waves, sampled voices and ‘mixed commodities’. It will be played through an eight-speaker, ceiling-hung kinetic sculpture using musical scores made from economic graphs. The five-day-long event will open with a live performance by cellist Kate Ellis on 24 July with the composer discussing the work on 26 July. The Electro Acoustic Exchange is at the Project Arts Centre, 39 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin from 24-28 July. Posted: 20 July 2007
