Irish Composer Honoured in America and France

Frank Corcoran
Frank Corcoran

Frank Corcoran is to speak to Princeton and New York Universities.

Frank Corcoran has been invited to give a series of lectures on his orchestral, instrumental and choral music at the prestigious American universities of New York and Princeton. The events will take place between 10-14 December.

In France, the Bourges International Festival has deposited all of Corcoran’s electro-acoustic works in the Bibliothéque Nationale in Paris. These include Balthazar’s Dream, which was first heard in Berlin in 1980, Joycepeak – Musik (which won the Studio Acoustic Music Prize in 1996), Sweeny’s Vision (winner of the 1999 Premier Prix in Bourges), 2002’s Quasi Una Missa, which won that year’s Swedish EMS Prize and the Deutschland Radio, Berlin-commissioned Tradurre Tradire from 2004.

Corcoran’s String Quartet No 3 will receive its premiere (played by the Calino Quartet) in Dublin in January next year.
