New Music at the National Gallery
Concorde will present a concert of new Irish music in the National Gallery this May. Solos, duos, trios and quartets by Arvo Part, Martin Butler and Irish composers both established and new will be featured in performances throughout the afternoon. Derek Ball has written a special piece featuring a painting hanging in the National Gallery and premieres of works by Eibhlís Farrell, Rhona Clarke and Gráinne Mulvey will also take place. Musicians taking part in the National Gallery Afternoon include Tine Verbeke, soprano; Dermot Dunne, accordion; Madeleine Staunton, flute and alto flute; Paul Roe, clarinet and bass clarinet; Elaine Clark, violin; and David James, cello. They will perform music by Arvo Part, Martin Butler, Ciaran Farrell, Elaine Agnew, Derek Ball, Jane O’Leary, Linda Buckley, Gráinne Mulvey, Rhona Clarke, Garrett Sholdice, James Wilson, Eibhlis Farrell, Dan O’Neill and Christopher Norby.
