Bealtaine 2007 CMC is again participating in the Bealtaine Festival, which celebrates creativity in older age. Running throughout May, this annual festival is now in its 12th year. In May 2006 there were 1000 events countrywide and an audience of 40,000 people. Coordinated by Age & Opportunity, it is one of Ireland’s biggest arts festivals, and promotes all art forms made by and for older people. Events will be taking place across Ireland, and embrace all art forms including theatre, literature, dance, film, storytelling, music, painting, sculpture and photography. As part of this festival, guitarist Brendan Walsh will present a programme of music by Irish composers Benjamin Dwyer, Fergal Dowling, Mary Kelly and Ciarán Farrell. His recital and talk will last approximately one hour and visitors will also be given a guided tour of the library and sound archive, which comprises the only comprehensive collection in existence of music by modern Irish composers. Refreshments will follow and there will be an opportunity to mingle and chat with Brendan. The event takes place at the Contemporary Music Centre, 19 Fishamble Street, Dublin 8, on Friday, 25 May 2007 from 2.00 - 3.30 pm. Admission is free but due to limited space booking is recommended.
