Gerald Barry in Focus
The London Sinfonietta will focus on the work of composer Gerald Barry in a BBC Radio 3 Studio Concert in May. The concert will UK premiere of Gerald Barry's Lisbon in a BBC Radio 3 Studio Concert in London on 8 May. Richard Baker also conducts Handel's Favourite Song and Wiener Blut, which Barry says ‘includes sounds remembered from the time when I discovered music until now. They act as a diary in which each entry is a jolt to memory’. The concert also includes Ian Vine’s new work, ocre oscura, written as a result of his participation in the London Sinfonietta’s Blue Touch Paper project, and Michael Finnissy’s Alongside, a London Sinfonietta commission from 1979. The concert takes place on Tuesday 8 May at LSO St Luke's. See Calendar for details. Posted: 30 April 2007
