Elaine Agnew Leads Major Arts School Project in Donegal

Elaine Agnew
Elaine Agnew

A new work by Elaine Agnew is to mark a pivotal Irish anniversary.

Featuring a wide array of musicians and a 100-voice children’s choir, One Less Petal, One Less Flame is a major project co-produced by Donegal County Council and Moving on Music to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Flight of The Earls. It will receive two performances on 16 September at St Peter’s Church, Milford, Co. Donegal.

Agnew has been collaborating with writers Kate Newman and Cathal Ó Searcaigh in a series of music and writing workshops since December last year and will contribute the main, central element (to be performed by the Irish Chamber Orchestra) of the three-part production.

Donegal fiddler Tommy Peoples has written the prologue and Italian clarinettist Gabriele Mirabassi the epilogue.

One Less Petal, One Less Flame will have two performances on 16 September, at 3pm and 7.30pm.
