YCC November Concert
The Young Composers' Collective of Ireland present a concert of new works for harp this November. Harpist Cliona Doris will perform works by Cathy Burke, Jason E. Geistweidt, Scott McLaughlin, Deirdre McKay, Aengus O Maolain, Sandie Purcell and Donal Sarsfield at the next concert of the Young Composers' Collective on 16 November. Cliona Doris has performed throughout Ireland, Britain, Europe and the United States. Her broadcasts include performances on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Ulster, UTV, RTÉ lyric fm, Classic FM TV and National Public Radio USA. Her first solo CD, in blue sea or sky, was released on the Riverrun Label. A second solo CD is due for release this year and she recently recorded Handel's Harp Concerto with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra for CD release by RTÉ lyric fm. An active exponent of contemporary music, she has premiered solo works by Donnacha Dennehy, Jason E. Geistweidt, Philip Hammond, Deirdre McKay and Ian Wilson, as well as chamber works by Elaine Agnew and Brian Irvine. She has held positions at the University of Ulster and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin. She was chairman of the Ninth World Harp Congress, which took place in Dublin in July 2005, and is currently Head of Orchestral Studies at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
