Ricordi London Signs Ian Wilson
Composer Ian Wilson has joined publishing house Ricordi London. As of December 2005, Ricordi London will publish recent works by Wilson including Winter finding for orchestra, Sullen earth for violin and string orchestra and Spielschatten for solo cello, as well as all forthcoming works including Seascape with high cliffs for the EBBA Championships in Belfast next April and Little red fish for the National Chamber Choir and the Rascher Saxophone Quartet. Ian Wilson's music has been performed and broadcast on six continents by artists such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Ulster, Belgrade Philharmonic and Norwegian Radio Orchestras, the London Mozart Players and the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Artis, Vogler and Vanbrugh Quartets, Lontano and Avanti! ensembles, Catherine Leonard and Hugh Tinney. He has written over seventy works, including a chamber opera, concertos for organ, cello, alto saxophone, violin (two), marimba and piano, orchestral pieces, seven string quartets, four piano trios and many other chamber and vocal works. Future commissions include a chamber opera, Minsk, for the Feldkirch Festival in Austria, a work for baritone and ensemble for Camerata Pacifica in Santa Barbara, USA, a new guitar work for Graham Anthony Devine, Stations for pianist Matthew Schellhorn, a 15- to 20-minute work for clarinetist Carol McGonnell and the Argento Ensemble in New York, and Ghosts, a 30-minute work for the Amstel Saxophone Quartet in Amsterdam.
