South Dublin Residency for Jennifer Walshe
Jennifer Walshe has been awarded a residency with South Dublin County Council under their Per Cent for Art Programme 2006–2009. The In Context 3 motto “festina lente: make haste slowly”, was chosen by Artistic Directors, Sarah Finlay and Cliodhna Shaffrey, to reflect a central principle of the programme - an appreciation of time. Through this two-year long artistic residency, composer Jennifer Walshe will have the opportunity to research and develop ideas fully, enabling the creation of public art projects that sincerely reflect context and have significant meaning for the community. A Mediation Commission forms an integral part of the programme. Through this commission it is hoped to create an active dialogue between the In Context 3 artists and the community, thereby allowing the possibility for greater understanding and interaction between the various individuals and groups involved. Anne and Denis Cleary, Bik van der Pol, Jackie Sumell, Dermot Bolger, and Andreas Kopp have also been awarded commissions under the South Dublin County Council's Per Cent for Art Programme.
