Soundscapes Music Textbook

Soundscapes textbook cover

A new Leaving Certificate music course book was launched in the Contemporary Music Centre on 16 November.

This second book in the Soundscapes series deals with the prescribed works on Group B of the Leaving Certificate music syllabus, and includes an analysis of Raymond Deane's Seachanges (with danse macabre). Author Arthur Sealy discusses Deane’s work while providing a thorough 20th-century contextualization and a biography of the composer. References are made to reviews, articles and interviews with the composer, and the ‘Beyond the Exam’ section includes a recommended bibliography.

The third book in the series, written by Harry Long with Arthur Sealy and addressing Irish traditional music and aural awareness, is also now available. Both books are published by Waltons.

See our Education and Outreach section for more resources on Raymond Deane.
