Printing House Festival of New Music, Dublin

Printing House

The Printing House Festival of New Music takes place for the first time in November.

Founded and curated by young Irish composers Benedict Schlepper-Connolly and Garrett Sholdice, the festival will provide an annual platform for the performance of new music in Dublin.

The festival includes performances by Minneapolis-based pianist Matthew McCright, vocal quartet Bulraga, Ensemble Imp, free-improvising pianist Paul G. Smyth and composer/improviser Jürgen Simpson, among others.

Music by Aengus ó Maoláin, Christian Wolff, Arvo Pärt, Larry Polansky, Benedict Schlepper-Connolly, Marc Sabat and Garrett Sholdice will be performed, as well as two new works specially commissioned by the festival from Simon O'Connor and Sarah O'Halloran. There will also be a special emphasis placed on the music of the American composer James Tenney (1934-2006), whose work Forms 1-4 was performed by the DUMS Contemporary Music Ensemble in the Printing House in February 2006.

The Printing House Festival of New Music takes place on 25-26 November 2006 in The Printing House, Trinity College, Dublin. See Calendar for details.
