Mostly Modern Festival 2006

The Mostly Modern Festival takes place on 3-4 March with premieres by Irish and European composers.

Held in association with the Italian Cultural Institute, Dublin, and the Community of Racalmuto, Sicily, performances by a number of Italian composers are featured.

Guest artists Dario Macaluso (guitar), the Dublin Guitar Quartet and Professor Emilio Carapezza will take part, together with Mostly Modern’s resident ensemble, Vox21, under artistic director Benjamin Dwyer.

Irish performances include John Buckley’s work, Arabesque, Raymond Deane’s Seachanges with Danse Macabre, and Dwyer’s Tiento and Omeros. Electro-acoustic music by Roger Doyle (The Seventh Set, from Passades) and others will also be heard.

A special feature of the festival is the performance of four of Berio’s Sequenzas, introduced by one of the performers, Dermot Dunne (accordion). Pre-concert talks by Fergus Johnston and Roger Doyle will also take place.

For performance details please visit the Calendar and the Mostly Modern web site. The event takes place at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre, Dublin, admission free.
