Commissions for Michael McGlynn

Michael McGlynn
Michael McGlynn

Michael McGlynn is completing a series of commissions for submission in early 2006.

These include an Agnus Dei for the group Chanticleer, as part of their multi-composer Mass commission, which will be premiered in 2007 in the USA and 2008 in Europe. Finnish choral vocal ensemble Rajaton have just recorded Wild Song for inclusion on a forthcoming release, and the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble will premiere a ten-minute multi-part work in March of this year, specially commissioned for performances in Geneva and Syracuse USA.

RTÉ lyric fm has commissioned a ten-minute multi-part instrumental piece for clarinet, oboe, flute and piano, while the Dublin Youth Orchestras, conducted by John Finucane, have commissioned a ten-minute orchestral work for performance in Ireland and the USA in mid-March.

Michael McGlynn is also in the final stages of completing the first new Anúna album to be released since 2000. It includes O Ignis Spiritus, commissioned by the National Concert Hall and The Road of Passage commissioned by University College Dublin to mark its 150th Anniversary. The album will be released in March 2006.
