La Monte's Garage Sale

A music and multimedia installation by Irish composer Sarah O'Halloran takes place in Kerry in October.

La Monte’s Garage Sale pays homage to historically significant aspects of experimental music. The sounds are designed to investigate the acoustic properties of the venue's exhibition space using simple sonic materials. Constantly changing harmonies are created by combining still and moving sine tones, and by occasionally adding recorded piano sounds.

Visitors will experience a variety of acoustic effects created by the intersection of sound and space. As the visual elements are designed to represent or reflect the sonic processes that happen in the music, they are simple and constantly changing.

Sarah O'Halloran's previous work includes music for Cork's Glucksman Gallery, the SOOZVUK Ensemble, and the New York Miniaturist Ensemble.

The installation runs from 7 to 14 October in Siamsa Tíre, Tralee.
