60th Birthday Celebrations for Jane O'Leary
A concert celebrating the 60th birthday of composer Jane O'Leary takes place in Dublin on 12 October. Featuring the ensemble Concorde, of which O'Leary is founder and artistic director, with special guest artists the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet, Garth Knox (viola d'amore) and John Feeley (guitar), the event takes place in the National Gallery of Ireland. The programme spans the last decade of the composer's output including something there (2006) for clarinet, violin, cello, accordion; Why the hill sings (2004) for viola d'amore and grand piano; In the Stillness of Time (2004) for string quartet and Four Pieces for Guitar (1993). Concorde will also premiere a new work for voice, alto flute, clarinet and violin specially written for the occasion by Jane O'Leary. The concert takes place on Thursday 12 October 2006 at 6.30pm in the National Gallery of Ireland. Admission is free and all are welcome. Posted: 30 September 2006
