RTÉ Horizons Series Continues

The 2006 RTÉ Horizons series continues featuring composers Roger Doyle, Raymond Deane, Kevin Volans and Philip Martin.

The second concert on Tuesday, 24 January features composer Roger Doyle. It includes his Four Sketches for Orchestra, excerpts from These Unsolved Mysteries and All the Rage, together with works by Raymond Deane and Thea Musgrave.

On 31 January cellist Gavriel Lipkind joins the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra to perform Kevin Volans' Cello Concerto. This concerto is accompanied by Strip-weave, also by Kevin Volans, and works by Andrew Hamilton and Stravinsky.

The concluding concert of the series on February 7 includes the world premiere of Philip Martin's Piano Concerto No.3 played by the composer, as well as works by Philip Glass and Arvo Pärt.

The first concert of the series took place on Tuesday 17 January in the National Concert Hall and featured composer Elaine Agnew. The series continues each Tuesday lunchtime until Tuesday 7 February. Admission is free, and the concerts are preceded by composer talks at 12.30pm. See Calendar for further details.
