         
West Cork Music Commission for David Flynn
Composer David Flynn has been commissioned by the 2006 ‘Masters of Tradition’ festival in Bantry, Co. Cork. His piece will bring together the talents of traditional Irish fiddle and guitar duo Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill with classical violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan, first violin of the Callino Quartet. Music for the Departed is a continuous 20-minute suite combining the unique style of Hayes and Cahill with influences from contemporary classical music and jazz. The ‘Masters of Tradition’ festival is run by West Cork Music, the organsation which also runs the highly successful West Cork Chamber Music Festival each year. The premiere of Music for the Departed opens the 2006 Masters of Tradition festival on 16 August 2006 in Bantry House, County Cork. Posted: 19 June 2006
