A work by composer David Fennessy has been selected for the International Gaudeamus Music Week 2006.

The jury, consisting of Jürgen Bräuninger (South Africa), Sam Hayden (UK) and Calliope Tsoupaki (Netherlands), has nominated twenty compositions for the Gaudeamus Prize, which will be awarded at the Music Week which takes place from 3-20 September in Amsterdam.

The International Gaudeamus Music Week primarily focuses on composers under 30, and is a unique international event for the introduction of new music by talented young composers. The prize, currently valued at € 4,550, is a commission for a new ensemble work. The commissioned work is generally performed during the following Gaudeamus Music Week.
