Ensemble Madrid at Mostly Modern

Leading Spanish and Irish composers are the feature for the next concert in the Mostly Modern series.

In their concert, Ensemble Madrid perform music by Spanish composers Jose Luis Turina and Arild Suarez, as well as Benjamin Dwyer's Movimientos I & II, Raymond Deane's Marche Oubliée and John Buckley's Sirato.

The Mostly Modern Festival (2-4 March 2006), in association with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Community of Racalmuto, Sicily, concentrates on an exploration of Italian music to include works by leading composers such as Berio, Donatoni, Scelsi, Maderna among others. The festival will particularly celebrate the music of Italian composer Aldo Clementi who will be our specially invited guest for the concert given by leading Irish new music ensemble VOX21 with guest artist, the foremost Italian guitarist, Dario Macaluso.

During the Festival, Mostly Modern will also be presenting the winning works from its two composers' competitions -- the Mostly Modern / AIC International Composers' Competition and the Mostly Modern / IMRO Young Irish Composers' Competition.

The next Mostly Modern concert takes place in the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre on Thursday 26 January at 8pm. For further details, please see Calendar.
