World Premiere for Donnacha Dennehy

Donnacha Dennehy
Donnacha Dennehy

A new work for flute and tape by Donnacha Dennehy is premiered at the National Concert Hall this month.

The piece, fAt (short for ‘flute and tape’) performed by William Dowdall on alto, bass and C flutes, incorporates computer sounds and pre-recorded tracks with a live solo part – the latter particularly challenging for the performer. The work was commissioned by Dowdall from Donnacha Dennehy with funds from the Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon.

Pianist David Adams joins Dowdall for the concert, which also includes works by Mozart, Louis Andriessen, Sigfried Karg-Elert and Karl Reinicke.

The concert takes place in the John Field Room of the National Concert Hall on Tuesday, 20 June 2006. See Calendar for details.
