CMC Contemporary Music Cup at Feis
The Contemporary Music Centre’s award for the best performance of an Irish work at the Feis Ceoil has been won by an ensemble from Dublin. The quartet of accordion, clarinet, violin and cello were Robert Kiernan, Aoife Dennedy, Jessie Grimes and Joanne Shields and they played James Wilson’s Sonatine (1998). They were awarded the Contemporary Irish Music Cup presented by Feis Ceoil and a monetary prize from CMC on 29 March 2006. Nine competitors, including a brass quintet, two guitarists, three pianists, a clarinettist and a cellist entered this year, choosing works by 15 Irish composers. Posted: 31 March 2006
