Agnew Works with the ICO Music Factory
The Irish Chamber Orchestra is running a children’s Music Factory with Elaine Agnew this month. The one-week creative music project is for children from the ICO’s home city of Limerick and surrounding areas. No prior music experience is needed, but children may bring along any instrument/soundmaker that they can play. Working with Irish composer Elaine Agnew and musicians from the Irish Chamber Orchestra, participants will create a musical piece which will be performed as part of the MBNA Shannon International Music Festival. The children will also have a chance to hear Agnew's full orchestral work Straight to the Point, which was inspired by deep sea diving in the South Pacific and will be performed by the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ireland at University Concert Hall on Friday 28 July at 8pm. Music Factory begins on Friday 21 July and concludes with the performance of the workshop piece in St Mary's Cathedral on Friday 28 July. Details from the Irish Chamber Orchestra web site.
