World Music Days 2005

John McLachlan
John McLachlan

This year’s ISCM World Music Days in Zagreb includes strong Irish representation.

On this occasion the festival forms part of the Zagreb Biennale 2005 and the featured works are John Buckley’s Bassoon Concerto, Frank Corcoran’s Quasi un Canto and John McLachlan’s Nuance.

McLachlan, who is the director of the Association of Irish Composers (the Irish section of the ISCM) will attend the festival and the ISCM General Assembly as first delegate, and travels with Arts Council funding assistance.

McLachlan has a busy year with a commission from Music Network just finished for The Metal Pig, written for the Danish ensemble, Nordlys, which they will tour in Ireland in November. He has also been commissioned to write a test piece (solo piano) for the next AXA Dublin International Piano Competition in 2006.

The performances take place on 15 and 22 April 2005. Visit the CMC Calendar or the Zagreb Biennale site for further details.
