Lines on the Landscape

White Stag Group icon

Composer Rhona Clarke and visual artist Marie Hanlon will present an illustrated lecture on the current White Stag exhibition at IMMA shortly.

The White Stag Group centred around a number of British artists who based themselves in Ireland in the 1930s and 1940s. It was a social, geographic and intellectual collective that embraced many disciplines.

This session will include an introduction to the music of Brian Boydell and his place in the White Stag group, and will conclude with a spotlight on the works of Patrick Scott, noting those elements which will become characteristic of his mature style. It will take place on Sunday 2 October at 3.00 pm. Visit the Calendar for details.

The Contemporary Music Centre has an active involvement in this exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. A live performance of the music of Brian Boydell took place on 17 July 2005 with the ConTempo Quartet and soloists, and a CD recording of the same compositions forms part of the exhibition catalogue.

For further information and lecture bookings contact Aoife Ruane at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, aoife.ruane@imma.ie, tel. 01-6129913.
