Townsend’s Aisling On Tour
Declan Townsend's orchestral piece, Aisling, will receive six performances from the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland during July. Originally commissioned for the fortieth anniversary of the Cork Youth Orchestra in 1998, it will be played under conductor Gearóid Grant on the NYOI’s 2005 summer tour. Concerts will take place in Waterford (July 1st), Cork (July 2nd), Galway (July 4th), Letterkenny (July 6th) Limerick (July 8th) and Dublin at the National Concert (July 9th). NYOI’s 35th anniversary celebration will be Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the distinguished Irish violinist Catherine Leonard, and Rachmaninov's Second Symphony.Posted: 7 June 2005
