Ninth World Harp Congress Takes Place in Dublin

Cliona Doris
Cliona Doris

The Ninth World Harp Congress takes place in Dublin from 17-24 July 2005.

This eight-day international music festival features over 40 concerts, masterclasses, lectures, social events and a major harp exhibition, in venues throughout Dublin including the National Concert Hall, St Patrick's Cathedral and University College Dublin.

Irish works featured include harp concertos by Philip Martin and Gerard Victory, and two newly commissioned works by Irish composers: a solo harp work by John Buckley (funded by the Arts Council, Ireland), and a work for harp and electronics by Michael Alcorn (funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland).

This major international event is being run by the enterprising and entirely voluntary Irish Artistic Committee, chaired by harpist Cliona Doris, which has been working on the conference programme for several years.

Further details from the web site of the Ninth World Harp Congress.
