McKay in New York
A work by Deirdre McKay received a very successful performance in New York recently. Ice Etchings for violin, piano and percussion was played by the prestigious Firebird Ensemble at Symphony Space, New York, on 28 September. The performance, which was very well received, was part of an international programme featuring works from some of the member-countries of IAMIC, the International Association of Music Information Centres, of which CMC is an active member. An unusual feature of Ice Etchings is the specially-designed percussion instruments which McKay had made for the piece. These were shipped to New York by CMC for the performance and since the group plans to play the piece again, they will remain across the Atlantic for the time being. Posted: 6 October 2005
