Irish Music Broadcast Internationally

Jane O'Leary
Jane O'Leary

More contemporary Irish music has been heard on international radio stations recently.

In a concert of works by composers from the European Union, Jane O’Leary’s Silenzia de la Terra (1993) for flute and percussion was performed by CUBE contemporary chamber ensemble (Janice Misurell-Mitchell, flute, and Dane Maxim Richeson, percussion), on 14 March on US station WFMT.

On Radio Unerhört Marburg in Germany, works from CMC’s latest CD release, Contemporary Music from Ireland Volume 4, were heard. These were John McLachlan’s Here be Dragons, Rob Canning’s Myriorama and Ailís N Riain’s DON’T!

And finally in Britain, BBC Radio Three played Roger Doyle’s Under the Green Time on their evening programme, Late Junction, on St Patrick’s Day, 17 March.
