Ireland Promoting New Music
A new promotion body, IPNM, gives its first concert in early December. IPNM (Ireland Promoting New Music) was set up in 2005 by Sligo-based composer Siobhán Cleary to improve opportunities for the performance and dissemination of contemporary music and to introduce audiences to new works from at home and abroad. Ireland Promoting New Music aims to support the music and art of our times, enrich the world of music by commissioning the creation of new works, and educate audiences and students about new music. It is supported by funding from the Arts Council. In this first concert, the Callino Quartet performs works by Irish composers Jennifer Walshe, Brian Boydell and Siobhán Cleary herself, as well as music by Gyorgy Kurtág and Henri Dutilleux. The IPNM concert takes place in the Printing House, Trinity College, Dublin, on Tuesday 6 December. For further information please visit the Calendar. Posted: 18 November 2005
