A CD of Elaine Agnew’s latest education project has been launched in Dublin.

Commissioned by Breaking Ground, the Ballymun Regeneration company, to express schoolchildren’s perception of and vision for the regenerated Ballymun (a social housing project in Dublin), the premiere of Fire took place in the Axis Theatre, Ballymun, in April 2003.

Pupils from Ballymun were actively involved in the composition of the piece, through composition and performance workshops with the composer. This recording features students of the Ballymun Windband Project, Ballymun Comprehensive School, St Joseph’s School Choir, St Joseph’s String Group and Alexandra College Choir.

The CD was launched by the Minister for Education and Science, Ms Mary Hanafin T.D., in the Civic Centre, Ballymun, on Tuesday 21 June.
