Concorde and SPNM Collaborate
New music ensemble, Concorde, is participating in a project with the London-based new music organisation spnm. On April 14 in co-operation with the Contemporary Music Centre, four composers presented the first draft of their new works to members of Concorde and composer Deirdre Gribbin, artistic director of spnm, at a workshop in the Goethe Institute, Dublin. Following this session the composers will have the opportunity to revise the pieces and complete them for performances at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin on 9 June and in London at the Spitalfields Festival on 11 June. The four composers whose new works will be premiered were selected following submission of scores and a workshop with Concorde in November 2004. They are Garrett Sholdice (b. 1983), Karen Power (b. 1977), Derek Kelly (b. 1971) and Peter Rosser (b. 1970). Also on the programme for these June concerts are works by Deirdre Gribbin, Elaine Agnew, Howard Skempton and George Crumb. For programme details please visit the Calendar. Posted: 2 April 2005
