Composers’ Choice 2005

The National Concert Hall’s contemporary music festival takes place next month, and will feature a number of CMC composers.

The series features the work of participating composers, Philip Martin, Stephen Gardner, Benjamin Dwyer, Eibhlis Farrell and Michael Alcorn.

Composers’ Choice boasts a wide repertory, with special place given to two newly commissioned works by the National Concert Hall composed by Eibhlis Farrell and Stephen Gardner. The series also features a multi media presentation with visuals by David Farrell and amplified score by Benjamin Dwyer.

Lute songs by John Dowland will be sung by soprano Mhairi Lawson and accompanied by lute player Paula Chateauneuf. Renzo Spiteri performs Michael Alcorn’s work Thin Air, a piece for an array of percussion instruments and live electronics. London-based ensemble Lontano perform works by Xenakis, Bill Evans and Stephen Gardner.

The Composers’ Choice series runs from 11-27 September 2005 in the National Concert Hall.
